Natural light both saves on electricity bills and pulls an uplifting energy across each space it touches.

Calgary is one of the sunniest cities in Canada and Cedarglen Homes embraces this asset in a model now demonstrated as one of its latest show homes in Seton. The Nanton 26, which shares its name with a charming town just south of Calgary, is a 2,186-square-foot front-drive single-family model.

It has three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

In several areas throughout the home, introduction of sunshine is a focus. This includes the dining area, which is surrounded by windows. It has windows on a side wall, rear-facing wall and sliding glass doors that step out to a deck.

This adds an upbeat tone Saturday morning pancakes with the family.

Another area soaking up sunlight is the great room which stands two storeys tall. The height of its rear-facing wall is leveraged with placement of multiple large windows. This makes the great room feel as if it extends into the backyard.

The great room also boasts an elongated fireplace with a full-height tile surround.

Furthermore, glass is used to disperse light in the home office. A flex room, accessed off the foyer, has a stub wall with windows covering the top half.

In the show home, the flex room has a spacious desk that seats two people.

There is also a window on an exterior wall in the flex room and the foyer, along with a glass pane next to the front door.

Across from the great room is an open-concept kitchen starring an island with a striking waterfall effect. It stands beneath pendant lighting and seats at least four people, supporting the needs of households that often entertain.

Furthering the home’s glass theme are upper kitchen cabinets with glass inserts, helping serve as a showcase for one’s favourite glasses and dishware. Storage in this kitchen also includes a walk-in pantry.
