Hawthorne's soaring great room ideal for entertaining

While art can boost the visual appeal of a gathering space, for some people, nothing tops the blues and greens of the outdoors.

Soaring ceilings with walls covered in windows not only boost the look of a room, these elements give the impression that it is much larger than the square footage suggests.

This combination is featured in the Hawthorne, a 2,207-square-foot single-family model by Homes by Avi. This model is currently demonstrated as a show home in the community of Rockland Park.

Its towering great room reaches two storeys high and gets a substantial degree of natural light through tall windows all over its rear-facing wall. The show home displays how this can make beauty behind the home feel part of the space.

The great room also boasts a box-shaped fireplace with an arched frame.

Arches are part of the home’s overall design theme. In some cases, it steps away from standard door frame orientations, replacing them entryways with eye-catching arches. This includes those in the pantry, and flex room, among other parts of the home.

Another arch is used for a niche containing shelves on the side wall in the dining area. This space has sliding glass doors that open to a full-width deck.

The central L-shaped kitchen is upscale and ideal for entertaining. It stars a generously sized island with a waterfall feature and an eating bar that seats at least four people. Here, people will sit, chat and snack while dinner finishes in the oven.

A wall oven is one of the stainless steel appliances presented in the show home.

There is an abundance of cabinet storage on both walls of the kitchen, allowing every pot, pan and cooking gadget to have a spot of its own.

People who work from home have a place in which to tuck away and be production. Just off the foyer is a 11 foot four inch by nine foot flex room. The space includes two arched niches with shelves.

From the foyer, beyond the flex room, there are no clear sight lines of any other end of the home.

Just outside of the master bedroom, located on the second level, there are views overlooking the open-to-below great room.

The master includes a niche framing the bed’s headboard. Its luxurious ensuite features a vanity with two sinks, deep soaker tub and large glass-encased shower.

From the ensuite, there’s a walk-through closet that connect to a laundry room. This produces a convenient path for putting away a clean load of clothes.

Two secondary bedrooms are located across the hall from each other. The larger of the two is 11 feet by 10 feet.
