Three more Canadian locations targeted for a spring launch will be in Toronto (Fairview Mall and Scarborough Town Centre) and Ottawa.
“We couldn’t be more excited to enter the next phase of our North American expansion plan and serve more customers in the U.S. and Canada,” Daisuke Tsukagoshi, CEO of Uniqlo North America, said in the statement.
Uniqlo has a goal of operating 200 retail outlets in Canada and the United States by 2027, up from 57 locations in 2022.
The company’s North American arm turned a profit for the first time in fiscal 2022, according to Bloomberg News, with significant additional growth in fiscal 2023, the company said.
The retailer is expecting to achieve double-digit sales growth in existing stores, Uniqlo also said in its statement.
Uniqlo had previously said its growth plans in the U.S. and Canada would be centred on upscale shopping malls and coastal cities.
